Yvonne

the heart and soul of the place

From an early stage, it was clear that Yvonne would take over her parents’ business – she is the family’s gastronome par excellence. After graduating from the renowned hotel management school “Villa Blanka” in Innsbruck, she gained several years of experience, both at home and internationally.

She met Milko in Geneva. Soon after their marriage, their sons Silvio and Adriano were born. But she felt a strong nostalgia for Montafon, and her parents’ business was waiting.

In early 2010, together with Milko, Yvonne took over the helm at the Boutiquehotel Grandau. With her fresh ideas and enormous commitment, she has created the warm and inviting Grandau flair; something that is much appreciated by her loyal guests.

Milko

host and chef de cuisine

Although Milko comes from the French-speaking part of Switzerland, he is an Italian at heart – born to enjoy life. He learned the art of cooking at the Noga Hilton and put it to the test in other hotels and restaurants around Geneva. Though he once dreamt of travelling the globe, he has carved out his own gourmet world together with Yvonne at the Grandau.

When it comes to the quality of his ingredients, Milko is uncompromising: Only fresh, locally sourced produce makes its way into his dishes, be it the morning milk straight from a local farm, herbs from his kitchen garden, or meat from the valley’s trusted butcher. In other aspects, Milko is versatile. When the Boutiquehotel Grandau needs renovations, he rolls up his sleeves and helps out. When he has time, the passionate vintage car enthusiast enjoys cruising around or taking part in a vintage car rally.

Otto und Ruth

Grandau veterans

Otto, though officially retired, remains an active contributor, occasionally chauffeuring guests around in the Grandau hotel shuttle in winter. With his humorous nature, he not only exercises people’s funny bones but also their abdominal muscles. Aside from this, he pursues his love for painting, producing various works of art for the Boutiquehotel Grandau.

Ruth is the strong woman by Otto’s side. She has taken her retirement as an opportunity to embrace something new: the art of doing nothing.

Both share a fondness for golf and are always eager to offer tips.

Isabelle

Isabella is Yvonne’s sister, and while she isn’t directly involved in the hotel’s daily affairs, she is always there when needed. Gifted with the same infectious humour as Otto, she can entertain a whole room until the audience is holding their sides from laughter. She previously assisted Yvonne in marketing, but she now oversees the management of the Nordic Sports Centre in Tschagguns. Her children, dynamic Aurel and athletic Amelie, are involved in Alpine sports and have already won a few races. Isabelle lives with her family and 15 sheep, two goats, 16 chickens (sadly, the rooster was claimed by a fox), four cats, and a marmot on the Ziegerberg mountain in Tschagguns.

Charly (Brown)

The latest addition is Charly, the hotel dog. With his mischievous yet incredibly endearing nature, he’s a delightful handful. It’s hard to believe that he was the calmest of a litter of seven puppies! His curious nose has him exploring every corner, pushing boundaries to see just how far he can go. But he’s also obedient and even attends dog school. Everyone’s eager to see if he’ll mellow out to be as serene as his predecessor, Adam.

The Boutiquehotel Grandau: our history

Almost every year, something was rebuilt, enlarged, or improved. Since 2023, our identity has shifted from Sport Hotel to Boutiquehotel Grandau: among the myriad of tourist hotels, we stand out as a family-run hotel that is managed with dedication.
